The Architect's Vision

Alamayah is a six-suite boutique hotel in Patiala Bawa, a beach village in Lamboya on the southwest coast of Sumba. Jess, an architect, designed it. Dan ran the build and trained local Sumbanese workers in modern construction, and many of them now work in the hotel. Each suite has a king bed and a private terrace facing the ocean or the jungle, and the Amu Suite has a freestanding bathtub out on its terrace.
